Vučić’s Visit to China: Attendance at Military Parade and Talks with Major Companies

At the invitation of President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić paid an official visit to China from September 2 to 4. During his stay in Beijing, Vučić attended the grand military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II and held meetings with senior representatives of leading Chinese companies to advance cooperation in energy, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

Attendance at the Parade and Gratitude to China

Invited by President Xi, Vučić attended the commemorative military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II. On the occasion, he emphasized that China has always supported Serbia in critical times. “I am grateful to President Xi and the Chinese people for their genuine friendship toward Serbia. China has always stood by us, especially during our most difficult moments. Serbia and the Serbian people will never forget this,” Vučić stated.

Meetings with Chinese Companies

During his visit, Vučić engaged with representatives of at least 14 Chinese enterprises, including both long-term partners already operating in Serbia and new potential investors.

  • Zijin Mining Group: Discussions focused on upgrading existing mining projects and exploring new investments, with special attention to environmental protection and sustainable resource use.
  • Guangdong Hongda: The company presented cooperation plans in mining engineering and defense systems, highlighting modernization of facilities and technology transfer.
  • China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC): Both sides reviewed their successful cooperation in highway and railway projects and discussed new opportunities to strengthen Serbia’s logistics and transport infrastructure.
  • iFlytek: As a leading Chinese AI company, iFlytek proposed initiatives in education and public administration aimed at enhancing digital literacy and administrative efficiency.
  • XPeng AEROHT: Talks centered on flying cars and next-generation transport systems, with Vučić stressing Serbia’s need to embrace the new technological revolution.
  • China Energy: The company expressed readiness for further strategic investments in Serbia’s hydropower and renewable energy sectors to bolster energy security and green transition.
  • SANY Renewable Energy: Discussions focused on wind farms and other renewable projects, with commitments to accelerate Serbia’s clean energy production through capital investment and technological expertise.

Strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Following the meetings, Vučić underlined the unprecedented investment interest Serbia has received. “These include companies already present in Serbia, to whom we owe respect here in China, as well as at least ten firms with which we have never had any cooperation so far,” he noted.

The visit underscored the deep political trust between Serbia and China while further consolidating the foundations for bilateral cooperation in trade, technology, and energy. Through intensive meetings and project discussions, Serbia aims to leverage Chinese capital, technology, and expertise to accelerate modernization and secure a stronger position in regional development.
