Nikolic: important railroad for Serbia, China and Hungary January 15, 2015 President Tomislav Nikolic has stated that the construction of the railroad Belgrade-Budapest is of the prime importance for Serbia, China and Hungary. With that railroad China will connect Serbia to the EU, Nikolic stressed in the talks with Xi Xiaoping, the deputy director of the Chinese National Development and Reforms Commission. Nikolic has added that China is welcome to finish the infrastructural projects in Serbia and invest in the production, and he expressed readiness for the further deepening of the relations between the two countries in all domains. While pointing to the difficult times we are living in, the President has emphasized that Serbia and China stand as an example of dedication to the peace and cooperation, as they have been maintaining bilateral relations of understanding and friendship for decades. In thanking Nikolic for the devotion to the development of friendship between the two peoples, Xi has said that the fact of Serbian and Chinese presidents having signed the agreement on the strengthening of the strategic cooperation is highly appreciated. According to him, the goal of the Chinese side is the commence the works on the Belgrade-Budapest railroad in 2015 and finish them in two years.
