April 14, 2025 | Beijing — At the invitation of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), our partner Ms. Ivana and team member Ms. Han Ni attended a thematic exchange meeting on China-Serbia arbitration cooperation held in Beijing on April 14, 2025. The conference featured in-depth discussions on the evolving landscape of international arbitration under the Belt and Road Initiative, dispute resolution practices of Chinese enterprises abroad, and the development of China-Serbia arbitration collaboration mechanisms.

As China’s oldest and internationally influential arbitration institution, CIETAC has seen a steady rise in foreign-related cases, especially in sectors such as engineering and cross-border investment. Ms. Chen Mi highlighted CIETAC’s ongoing alignment with international standards in terms of cost structures, procedural efficiency, and digital case management systems, offering Chinese enterprises going global a more cost-effective and efficient dispute resolution channel.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was CIETAC’s formal invitation for our firm to support the promotion of arbitration mechanisms in Serbia and the broader Central and Eastern European region. CIETAC also invited our firm to recommend qualified Serbian legal professionals to serve as arbitrators, enhancing the diversity and internationalization of its arbitration panel.

Our firm expressed strong support for CIETAC’s efforts in intelligent arbitration systems, hearing process management, and AI-assisted decision-making, recognizing their significance in improving the efficiency of cross-time-zone and remote project dispute resolution. Moving forward, we will actively assist CIETAC in deepening its cooperation with local arbitration institutions in Serbia, and help establish a regularized exchange mechanism that includes case sharing, rules training, and expert dialogue—contributing to the development of a more open, professional, and impartial international arbitration platform.

This event marks another milestone in our firm’s efforts to expand international arbitration cooperation. We will continue to leverage our localized legal service capabilities in Central and Eastern Europe, support Chinese enterprises in enhancing risk management for international projects, and play an active role in global arbitration system development and cross-border legal collaboration.
