{"id":848,"date":"2020-02-26T22:11:34","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T22:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.advokatibeograd.rs\/en\/?p=284"},"modified":"2022-09-15T16:39:55","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T16:39:55","slug":"new-act-of-the-government-in-respect-to-granting-temporary-residence-to-foreigners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advokatibeograd.rs\/en\/new-act-of-the-government-in-respect-to-granting-temporary-residence-to-foreigners\/","title":{"rendered":"New Act of the Government in Respect to Granting Temporary Residence to Foreigners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the session held on February 13, 2020 the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Act on the criteria for determining the category of foreign nationals and category of foreign nationals who may be granted a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Serbia, regardless of the grounds for granting the temporary residence permit (hereinafter referred to as: <strong><em>Act<\/em><\/strong>), which was published in the Official Gazette of RS, no. 13\/2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Act has been adopted based on the Article 40. paragraph 4 of the Law on Foreign Nationals (<em>Official Gazette of RS<\/em>, no. 24\/2018 and 31\/2019) stipulating that temporary residence in the Republic of Serbia can be approved to certain categories of foreign nationals, regardless of the basis for the temporary residence permit. Particularly, the Law defines general grounds based on which foreign nationals can obtain temporary residence permit in the Republic of Serbia. According to the Law, such grounds include employment within company registered in Serbia, dispatching labor staff, studies; participation in international exchange programs for pupils or students; specialist, professional training and practice; ownership over immovable property etc. \u00a0Prescribing that certain categories of foreign nationals can apply for the temporary residence permit regardless of general rules, the Law allows the Government of the Republic of Serbia to provide preferential status to the categories of foreign nationals, depending on their importance for the national economy.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the grounds for enacting the Act, the Government of the Republic of Serbia emphasized the importance of boosting the potential of Serbia as a place for doing business in the field of foreign investments.
